Health and Safety
We ensure our school is a safe and secure environment. Regular checks are made of the premises and equipment. Procedures are in place in case of an emergency such as a fire and these are regularly practised and monitored.
The school does not have a car park and traffic congestion before school and at home time is a problem. We request parents to collect their children on foot whenever possible. There are yellow zig-zag lines on the road immediately outside the school gates. It is illegal for any vehicle other than emergency vehicles to stop or park there from 8.00 am until 5.00 pm during weekdays.
It would also be appreciated if those parents travelling to school by car showed consideration to the local residents. Some of these families have small children or are elderly. The residents fulfil an important role for the school as they are often our eyes and ears outside school hours.
We maintain good security across the premises. We are especially vigilant to ensure only authorised people enter the premises. Doors to the building are locked and we ask that all visitors report to the school office on arrival to sign in and wear a visitor’s badge whilst on the premises.
We ask all parents to complete an emergency contact form in case of any accident or medical emergency. We keep well-stocked first aid kits and are especially vigilant with any trips off the premises. We place an emphasis on teaching the children to behave in safe and sensible ways to avoid accidents in school.
