Assessment
In all subjects learning objectives for each lesson are made clear to the children, so they can understand what they are learning and are able to recognise the progress they are making. We give feedback to children on their work, both orally and through written marking.
Teachers regularly assess the progress children are making through asking questions about their work, making observations and analysing pupils’ work.
Towards the end of Key Stage 2, usually in May, Year 6 pupils sit national tests (called SATs) in English and Mathematics. Throughout the school we make use of a range assessments across the curriculum.
The end of Key Stage SATs results are communicated to parents. They are also used to provide overall information about the standards achieved by the school.
