About Year 5
Mrs. Ijima, Mrs Wells, Mrs. Oliver and Miss Lofthouse enjoy the support of Mrs. Pollock, Mrs. Bell, Mrs. Derbyshire, Mrs. Ellis and Mr Bushaway in Year 5.
Year 5 has some very interesting topics like the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings or Earth and Space so it’s fun to teach. We enjoy some great trips, for example Tatton Park and Jodrell Bank. We also have some wonderful school visitors, for example, a planetarium!

Meet your teachers
Mrs Ijima |
Hi, I'm Mrs Ijima. I have worked in Year 5 for many years and I love teaching here because of all the interesting topics we have which I look forward to exploring with you! Mrs Bell and Mrs Derbyshire will be in class to help and support us. I am also the English Leader for the school so if you have any ideas or feedback about the subject (reading, writing and spelling) or any other issues, please let me know. Being a teacher keeps me very busy but out-of-school I spend a lot of time at gyms and sporting activities with my children (and a bit for me!) and can often be spotted in parks at weekends. |
Mrs Oliver & Miss Lofthouse |
Hello and welcome to 5OL! We are Mrs Oliver & Miss Lofthouse. We have been working at Great Moor Junior School for over 10 years now and this will be our second year working together as a job-share. Previously, we have taught in Years 3, 5 and 6 and we have both recently returned to work after maternity leave. We are very excited to be back and working together in Year 5 and looking forward to meeting our new class. We have lots of exciting topics for you including Viking and Anglo Saxons, The Earth, Sun and Moon and Design and Technology projects! We hope that you are all ready for a year of working hard as a team, building confidence and of course having lots of fun and laughs along the way. Although being a teachers and mothers keeps us very busy out-of-school, we enjoy baking, reading books to our children and spending time outside: walking or exploring parks. Miss Lofthouse - I enjoy learning about the world (I spent about a year and a half travelling and working around Australia, Asia and America before moving back to Stockport). I really enjoy teaching Maths, PE and Science, which I can’t wait to share with you! Mrs Oliver- When I am not busy at school, I very much enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I am very excited to be back in Year 5. My favourite subjects to teach are History, Art and English. If you have any questions or would like more information on anything, please don’t hesitate to contact either of us. |
Mrs Wells |
Hello, I’m Mrs Wells! I can’t wait to begin my time in Year 5 and am excited to get to know both children and parents. I look forward to bringing a sense of fun and challenge to my class as well as supporting the children to thrive and develop both knowledge and understanding. I am excited to teach every subject and the many interesting topics each have, in particular English, Maths and History. I love being active and enjoy being outside in the countryside, especially in Wales. While there, I love to spend my time reading as well as spending time at the beach with my two young nephews and family. |
